Craig Raucher is best known as the Founder and longtime Commissioner of the Staten Island Basketball League, a grassroots institution he has led with passion and integrity since 1980. Under his guidance, the league has thrived for over four decades, welcoming more than 450 players across generations and backgrounds.   For Craig, basketball isn’t just a game — it’s a unifier. He’s fostered an environment where individuals from diverse ethnicities, faiths, ages (30 to 75) and life stories come together on the court. He enforces simple but firm rules: no racism, no political discourse, and no intentional physical harm. Violations lead to immediate removal.
