Learn What You did not Know About the Staten Island Basketball

Who is not a fan of basketball? Everyone likes playing or watching the sport. People belonging to every age group, be it a teenager or anybody who has crossed middle age, love it irrespectively. If you are also a fan of the sport and like keeping track of the relevant information, then Staten Island Basketball should not be an unknown name to you for obvious reasons. For those who do not know, read the following to know the interesting facts.

Where it began

For knowing the beginning, you have to look forty years back in the time. Initially, it started as the Brooklyn Athletic League in New York and then changed its name to the current one with the course of time. The game got many older players interested who were tired of other games and were looking for a more comfortable game. It was the ideal place for seasoned players who were older but had the enthusiasm of an 18-year-old.

From the founder

Mr. Craig Raucher, a renowned businessman, is the founder of Basketball Staten Island and is currently the commissioner of the same. In these long years, he has organized, managed, and played numerous games. After his knee replacement surgery, he is back on the court and is yet again playing like a pro. However, with the ongoing pandemic situations, the games got suspended for ensuring the safety of all involved in it.

Reaching newer milestones

The basketball court will mark its 41st years of existence this year. The league has had players belonging to various nationalities and religions with the singular motivation to win and stay on the court. People belonging to different working sectors ranging from teachers to scientists to even construction workers, have played together, only for the undying love for the sport.
